The
protein at left, thymidine synthase, makes the one of the nucleotides of DNA. It is colored according to how conserved each of
its amino acids is, when compared to the 100 most similar
sequences known. The most conserved amino acids are a deep
red, and the least conserved (most variable) are blue.
