Different atoms have different energy levels
255255204
We've added a new feature to the model below: an energy level diagram. It shows the energy level of the ground state (-4 electron-volts) and the excited state (-0.2 electron volts) of the purple atom. Run the model and see what happens.
You probably noticed that you can't change the atom's velocity in this model. BORING! But wait, there is something you can do! The energy of the excited state of the purple atom is editable! Just drag the purple line on the energy level diagram. (Click on it first to select it, then drag it up and down. If you accidentally make another excited state, you can get rid of it by selecting it and hitting the delete key.) Experiment and see if you can find a setting where the purple atom will go into the excited state when it is hit by the blue atom.
