Kinetic energy and potential energy of a pendulum
241240246
Qian, is the pendulum supposed to show change in color as it swings? Is that why there is scale? Also, I would prefer to see the buttons below the model.

When a pendulum is released, it moves faster and faster until it reaches
the vertical position. With higher speed the pendulum’s kinetic energy
increases. So where does the increased kinetic energy come from? In this
case it is gravity. The energy that comes from gravity is called
“gravitational potential energy.” Potential energy is
energy stored in an object because of its position. The gravitational
potential energy converts to kinetic energy when the pendulum swings. Run
the model on the right and answer the questions below.

Note: The pendulum ball always returns to the starting position, because
we assume there is no air resistance.
