A pore of a cell membrane
1org.concord.modeler.PageTextBox1000.0150.0In the picture below you will see the plasma (cell) membrance, a protein channel, and large ions.
These ions can not pass by themselves so they need help from the protein channel to get into and out of the cell.
This process is called facilitated diffusion.
It is diffusion because ions are moving from a high concentration to a low concentration, but it is facilitated because the proteins are helping. No enery (ATP) is required for this process.-f0f10116trueCentury Gothic15.01org.concord.mw2d.activity.AtomContainerfacilitated diffusion$0.mmltrue1org.concord.modeler.PageButtonTake a snapshotfalseorg.concord.mw2d.models.MolecularModel0Take a snapshot11org.concord.modeler.PageMultipleChoicetrue4400200What type of transport is shown above?trueOsmosisDiffusionFacilitated DiffusionEndocytosis2-f0f1011org.concord.modeler.PageMultipleChoicetrue4400200In the animation above what color is the carrier protein?trueBlueGreen and YellowWhiteOrange0-f0f1011org.concord.modeler.PageMultipleChoicetrue4400200What is the bilayer (the green and yellow objects) made of in the animation?true3 fatty acids and a glycerolPhospholipidsCarbohydratesProtein1-f0f10
