In addition to gravitational potential energy, there are other types of
potential energy. One type commonly seen is the elastic potential energy
stored in a spring. If you apply a force to stretch a spring, some energy
from your muscles is transferred into the spring. The energy you spend
pushing or pulling a spring from a slack position is stored in it as
potential energy. When you release the spring, it moves. The potential
energy is converted into kinetic energy.<br><br>
