II. Wave Properties (Frequency and Wavelength)
All forms of electromagnetic radiation also have wavelike properties including frequency and wavelength.
We will distinquish between shorter and longer wavelengths like this:
shorter wavelength photons
longer wavelength photons
Do not confuse frequency with intensity. Frequency refers to how many oscillations per unit time. In our model, a large number of wiggles, like this , as opposed to a small number of wiggles, like this , is our way of indicating a large number of oscillations per unit time and therefore a high frequency. Frequency is unrelated to how many photons there are.
Intensity, on the other hand, refers to how many photons per unit time. The next page should help clarify the difference between frequency and intensity.

shorter wavelength has higher frequency
longer wavelength has higher frequency
both have the same frequency because both have the same number of photons
